MSI Creator Z17 gets a 16:10 display as part of a redesign with a vapor chamber, Core i9, and RTX 3080 Ti (16 GB). The touchscreens now support pen input. The lack of Mini LED, OLED, and 4K could have been decided in favor of the battery.
165Hz QHD 16:10 and touchscreens with pen input
Pen support is also coming to new MSI Creator laptop, alongside a faster 165Hz 2.5K touchscreen in a content-friendly 16:10 aspect ratio. MSI advertises here as “the first 17-inch notebook with pen support”. The pen sticks magnetically to the side of the case and is charged via USB-C. The digital content creator laptop covers the DCI-P3 color space and promises DeltaE <2. The 2.49 kg light 17-inch now also comes in 16:10 format and is no longer offered with a 1000 nit bright 4K mini LED panel.
The CPUs use a maximum of Intel’s Core i9-12900H, together with 64 GB of DDR5 RAM and a 2 TB PCIe 4.0 SSD. The Creator Z17 does not offer a vapor chamber but instead has three fans and 5 heat pipes. The power supply delivers up to 240 watts here.
Connection variety, 1080P cam, quadro speaker & RGB keyboard
The connections include 2x USB-C (1x Thunderbolt 4), 1x USB-A, 1x SD card reader (Express), and HMDI. There are also Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth v5.2, 1080p camera with quad microphones, a 90 Wh battery, 4x 2W speakers from Dynaudio, and a per-key programmable RGB keyboard from SteelSeries with a 50 percent larger touchpad. It comes with MSI AI features and is robust with MIL-STD-810G.
