Motorola Moto G22 with a 90 Hz display and 50 MP quad-camera

The Motorola Moto G22 has been officially launched. The inexpensive mid-range smartphone wants to convince customers with a 50 MP quad camera, a 5,000 mAh battery, and a 90 Hz display.

Motorola G22

At first glance, the brand new Motorola G22 looks like a fairly inconspicuous mid-range smartphone – the large chin on the front clearly shows that this is a comparatively cheap device. But the equipment is exciting, because Motorola installs a 6.5-inch LCD with a frame rate of 90 Hz, even if the resolution is only 1,600 x 720 pixels.

One of the highlights of the new Moto phone is the quad-camera because Motorola installs a 50 megapixel f/1.8 main camera, an 8 MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera with a picture angle of 118 degrees as well as a 2 MP depth and a 2 MP macro camera. The 8.5 millimeter thin, 185-gram smartphone has a 5,000 mAh battery that can be charged with up to 15 watts via USB-C. A 3.5 mm AUX plug is available for headphones.

Motorola makes compromises with the processor, among other things, because the Moto G22 relies on a MediaTek Helio G37, which offers eight ARM Cortex-A53 cores with clock frequencies of up to 2.3 GHz. There is also 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of flash memory, which can be expanded with a microSD memory card. The fingerprint sensor is on the side of the device, but the 16 MP selfie camera also enables face recognition.

Price and availability

The Motorola G22 is available to pre-order on Amazon.co.uk for a recommended retail price of £139.99.
