Moto G42: Motorola launches a new smartphone with OLED and 50MP triple camera

Motorola has unveiled the new Moto G42. The smartphone offers an OLED display and a triple camera with 50 MP. There is also a 5,000 mAh battery and the Snapdragon 680.

The smartphone running Android 12 is equipped with up to 2.4 GHz fast Snapdragon 680 including Adreno 610 GPU, which is known to lack 5G support. A 5,000 mAh battery, which is charged with up to 20 watts, is the energy source in the device.

The front of the Motorola Moto G42 is adorned with a 6.4-inch OLED panel. It has a resolution of FHD+ (2,400 x 1,080 pixels), but only updates at 60 Hz. The 16-megapixel front camera is located in the center of the upper edge in a small punch hole.

On the back, Motorola integrates a triple camera with a 50-megapixel main sensor (f/1.8), an 8-megapixel ultra wide-angle lens (f/2.2) with a 118-degree field of view, and a 2-megapixel macro camera (f/2.4). Also on board, the smartphone, which weighs almost 175 g and measures 160.4 x 73.5 x 7.99 mm, is NFC, a headphone jack for the included earphones, and a fingerprint sensor.

Price and availability

Motorola has introduced two new smartphone models recently. Alongside the Moto G82 5G, the more affordable Motorola Moto G42 was also unveiled. The model can currently be found on the Amazon.co.uk website for £226.97, but it is an unlocked model and comes in Atlantic Green and Mettalic Rose colors and only in one memory variant with 4 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of storage. Thanks to a memory card slot, it can be expanded via a microSD.
