Schiit Audio, an audio brand that has become familiar to global users, has introduced its latest low-cost DAC AMP model called Schiit Modi 3+. New Schiit DAC is completely made in California, USA like other high-end headphone amp models.
The difference between Modi 3+ and Schiit Modi 3 in the past is the use of a USB Unison circuit similar to high-end models like Bifrost 2 or Yggdrasil. Inside the DAC AMP still uses the AK4490 DAC chip along with the Op-Amp OPA1662 amplifier circuit.
The use of the new USB Receiver circuit also improves the sound quality, but the support for old windows like 7 and 8 will no longer be available. In addition Schiit Modi 3+ also only supports PCM music up to 24bit / 192kHz and will not support MQA, DSD.
The input and output ports are identical to the old Modi 3 models with Micro USB (Data and Power), Coaxial, Optical, and RCA outputs. You can also connect to your phones and tablets that need a low-power-draw device, again using the wall power supply.
If you’re using headphones, just add a Modi for adjustable volume via its preamp outputs. No headphones? Just add an SYS Passive Preamp for analog volume control. It has an output impedance of 75 ohms, 20Hz-20KHz, +/-0.1dB, frequency response, and maximum output is 2.0V RMS.
