After the TicWatch Pro 3, Mobvoi already offers two wearables based on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 4100 with the TicWatch E3 health monitor fitness tracker watch. Additional features include GPS, a sensor for SpO2 measurement, and 8 GB of ROM.

The successor to the TicWatch E2 from 2019 has been two years in coming and, in view of this, doesn’t really bring much news. However, the diameter of the IP68-certified housing is 3 mm smaller, which means that the diagonal of the 2.5D display is also shortened, from 1.39 to 1.3 inches. The resolution is reduced from 400 x 400 px to now 360 x 360 px.

The predecessor already brought GPS (GPS + GLONASS + Beidou) with it. A SpO2 sensor that monitors oxygen saturation around the clock is new and up-to-date. In addition to WLAN and Bluetooth 5.0, Mobvoi accommodates NFC for Google Pay, as well as speakers and microphone for the Google Assistant. The memory sizes are 1 GB RAM and 8 GB for ROM. Additional features include a low latency off-body sensor so that the 380 mAh battery is not burdened more than necessary when the wearable is put down. Normally, the runtime remains short, as is typical for WearOS, Mobvoi speaks of about one day.

The main focus is of course on the SoC and the operating system from Google. In the summer of 2020, Mobvoi was the first manufacturer to equip a smartwatch with Qualcomm’s latest wearable platform, Snapdragon Wear 4100, and now the TicWatch E3 health tracker is joining them. The TicWatch Pro 3 GPS (approx. $300 on Amazon) running watch, which was shortly followed by a TicWatch Pro 3 with LTE (approx. $300 on Amazon), should also receive the upgrade to the new release of Google’s Smartwatch operating system, which for the first time should also show influences from the Fitbit brand acquired by Google. In the meantime, this is no longer so certain, instead, the TicWatch E3 should receive the long-awaited update.
