Mobvoi TicPods ANC: Active Noise Cancelling Earbuds with IPX5, 5 hrs Battery

With the TicPods, Mobvoi has been offering an interesting alternative to Apple’s AirPods for some time now, but the latest active noise cancelling earbuds model is finally here named Mobvoi TicPods ANC that can hardly be found in this price range. The features are also very impressive.

Active Noise Cancelling Earbuds

At CES 2020 in January, Mobvoi has introduced TicPods 2 (approx $99.98 on Amazon) and the TicPods 2 Pro (approx $139.99 on Amazon). Despite many exciting upgrades, you had to forego active noise control, for example, the Apple AirPods Pro (approx $229 on Amazon). This is exactly where the company is now moving: The new TicPods ANC finally offers noise suppression that can block out disturbing ambient noise.

In addition, the ANC headphones offer 13-millimeter drivers, IPX5 certification so that they are protected against sweat and splashes, support for Google Assistant and Siri, and a touch-sensitive surface on the outside, which can be used to answer calls or pause playback. It comes equipped with three modes: Quiet Mode to eliminate up to 35dB of noise, Sound-passthrough Mode to hear what’s happening around you, and ANC-OFF Mode.

Mobvoi specifies the battery life as five hours, with activated noise suppression at least 4.5 hours should be possible. The charging case increases the runtime to 21 hours. Charging is via a USB-C cable, wireless charging via the Qi standard is unfortunately not supported. The connection is done via Bluetooth 5.0, whereby each earbud has its own Bluetooth chip so that the TicPods ANC can also be used as a mono headset.

Price and availability

Mobvoi is currently offering the TicPods ANC active noise cancelling earbuds on Amazon.com website for $89.99.

There has been a flurry of noise-canceling earbuds over the last few years, some of which are very expensive and some of which are budget-friendly models such as Sony WF-SP800N, Sol Republic Amps Air+, JBL Live 300TWS, Huawei FreeBuds 3 – you can see review here.
