Mobvoi has unveiled a new version of its TicPods 2 AirPods competitors. The TicPods 2 Pro+ should convince with a design upgrade, but apart from two upgrades, the technology is almost identical to the older TicPods 2 Pro, so that the head gesture control, the support for Qualcomm aptX, and the IPX4 certification are retained.

With the TicPods, Mobvoi has been offering an alternative to the Apple AirPods (REVIEW), one of the best truly wireless earbuds on the market (from $129.99 on Amazon) for some time, with the TicPods 2 Pro+ the company has now presented the latest revision of noise cancelling earbuds. Compared to the TicPods 2 Pro (also $139.99 on Amazon), the design of the charging case has been revised so that it looks a bit higher quality.
Probably the most important new feature is the ability to use each of the two earphones individually. In addition, the volume can now also be controlled via voice control, but apart from these two innovations, the technology is identical to the previous model. As usual, the TWS relies on a Qualcomm QCC5121 Bluetooth 5.0 chip, which supports aptX in addition to SBC and AAC.
There is no active noise cancellation (ANC), but we have a noise cancelling microphone, at least the dual microphones can filter out disturbing ambient noise during phone calls. The noise cancelling earbuds are certified according to IPX4 and are therefore protected against rain and sweat. The battery lasts four hours, the charging case can fully charge the earbuds four times.

Gesture control via head movements is still exciting so that you can reject a call, for example, by shaking your head. The operation is also possible via a touch-sensitive surface.
