It is a very useful tool to record video from your Xiaomi phone to demonstrate what you do on your device. Many users are also curious about how to activate it or how to use it, One of the MIUI forum’s member has published a full fledged tutorial on How to use MIUI Screen Recorder?
The MIUI Screen Recorder will be found in Tools folder, in which user can choose the resolution of the video screen from Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels), HD (1280 x 720 or 800 x 480 pixels). User can choose the quality of video from 1 Mbps to 32Mbps; frame rate from 15, 24 or 30 fps; 60fps is not available right now for developer testing; you can choose the screen orientation whether you want to record video as Portrait or Landscape or auto. 
User can also choose a source of audio like there is an option to mute or sound from mic or from phone speaker. User can play a music on the phone while recording screen as a background music or you can record a game together with its audio. Other options are like user can stop screen recording by pressing lock screen button. You can show a white dot on screen where you touch so that video viewer know where you touch to make the change. User can also opt to choose if you touch navigation buttons like Home, back, menu etc. 
The recorded video will be stored in a folder named “Screen Recorder” in “DCIM” folder. Most of the MIUI Screen Recorder features are quite similar to the AZ Screen Recorder which is one of the popular screen recording application currently.
