The Xiaomi forum posted some new MIUI 9 interface images, firmware upgrades to be updated for a range of phones. Some new features include Split screen multitasking, Lock screen shortcut, keyboard shortcuts and new themes. MIUI 9 will be introduced in China on July 26 at a media event.
Split screen Multitasking
One of the original Android 7.0 Nougat features is Split screen Multitasking but it is unclear why not bring upon all Xiaomi phones, except for the recent Mi Max 2. Xiaomi also added that Mi 6, Mi MIX, Mi Note 2, Mi Max, Mi Max 2, Mi 5, and Redmi Note 4X will be first models that are allowed to run this split screen.
Lock screen shortcut
When you swipe your finger to the right, you will see the menu. Features will be available including Mi Home, Mi Remote, Mi Pay, Transport Card, and Torch. There are much more features and hopefully, we can customize these more conveniently.
MIUI 9 Themes
There are three new themes that will appear in MIUI 9: Cool Black, No Boundary and Color Fantasy. Noteworthy is that the dock will not have any icon texts, only the icon, looks little more compact.
