Hong Kong-based Meike Digital Technology has released a new Meike 33mm f1.4 autofocus prime lens for APS-C mirrorless cameras. It is designed for Sony E, Nikon Z, and Fujifilm X mount APS-C cameras, this lens provides a full-frame equivalent focal length of 50mm.
The optical design of the new lens consists of nine groups combining 12 elements, including 2 ultra-low dispersion elements, specifically designed to reduce chromatic aberration. Additionally, the aperture ranges from f/1.4 to f/16. Furthermore, the minimum focusing distance is 40 cm.
Meike says the lens is sharp across the entire frame and is well suited for both portrait and landscape photography, and also claims there is no focus breathing, which video shooters should appreciate.
The new Meike 33mm f/1.4 lens is both compact, measuring 83 mm in length, and lightweight at 314 g. Additionally, on the mount side, there is a USB connector for updating the firmware.
Meike 33mm F1.4 price and release date
Perhaps the most attractive feature of the new Meike 33mm f1.4 AF APS-C is its price, which is $229.99. Fuji X and Nikon Z-mount versions are “Temporarily Out of Stock”, but Sony E-mount is available for pre-order on Bhphotovideo.com website.
The Fujinon XF 33mm f/1.4 R LM WR lens is considerably more expensive at $800. However, there are several more affordable 33mm f/1.4 lenses available for crop sensor cameras. For instance, the Tokina ATX-M 33mm f/1.4 for Sony E costs $400, and the Viltrox AF 33mm f/1.4 (X, Z, E) is priced at $279.
