Meike has stepped up with a 16mm T2.5 cine lens for full-frame photography. It is a wide-angle lens for film production, designed to work with PL, Canon EF, Canon RF, Sony E, and Leica L mounts equipped with rings focus and aperture with standard teeth for follow focus systems and covers a 45mm image circle.
The Meike is known for its good quality lenses at an affordable price, as for cine lenses the advertised price looks quite interesting. The Meike 16mm T2.5 complements a line of cinema lenses that already includes the 24mm T2.1, 35mm T2.1, 50mm T2.1, 85mm T2.1, and the recently released 105mm T2.1.
Meike 16mm T2.5 has an image circle of 45mm, it is compatible with most full-frame and wide-angle cameras, such as ARRI Alexa Mini LF, Sony FX3 FX6, and FX9, Canon C700, and C500II.
The maximum aperture is T2.5, the minimum focusing distance is 30 cm. Focusing rings and apertures with M0.8 teeth are provided. The focus ring, as befits a cinema lens, has a 330° travel, almost a full turn, which will help you focus accurately.
The 16mm angle is very wide, and manufacturers had to increase the diameter for the filter – all cinema lenses in the series have an 82mm thread, while the novelty will require a Ø86mm filter.
The dimensions and weight of the product depend on the selected mount, the lens length varies from 101.9 mm (PL) to 135.9 mm (Sony E), and the weight is approximately the same – 1150 g.
In the optical design – 16 elements in 11 groups, including 2 aspherical elements, are designed to reduce chromatic aberration. The T2.5 aperture has an 11-blade design, and the manufacturer promises beautiful bokeh.
