MSI MAG 271QP QD-OLED X24: 240Hz Gaming Screen with Adaptive Sync

MSI advertises the MAG 271QP QD-OLED X24 as the best OLED gaming monitor with a fast refresh rate for budget users. It also delivers convincing and accurate color representation.

MSI MAG 271QP QD-OLED X24 best 240Hz screen

The MAG 271QP from MSI is another 240Hz display that doesn’t necessarily aim to impress with an extremely high resolution but rather with a fast panel and likely better color reproduction. The 27-inch WQHD gaming display has a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. Compared to 4K resolution, this should naturally result in lower demands, especially on the graphics card, for displaying a high refresh rate. The WQHD resolution is quite typical for gaming monitors.

The panel supports a gray-to-gray response time of 0.03 milliseconds and a refresh rate of 240 Hz—Adaptive-Sync support for synchronizing the graphics card’s image output with the monitor’s image display. The maximum brightness is 1,000 cd/m² (3% APL), and the contrast ratio is 1,500,000:1.

The adaptive sync OLED display device is advertised as having 98 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 color space, with a color deviation of less than 2 at Delta E, meaning colors don’t appear significantly distorted. The QD-OLED panel is said to be protected from burn-in by various measures. For example, static image content is detected, pixel shifting is also present, and a heatsink is designed to prevent the individual OLEDs from overheating.

A crosshair color that complements the background can appear, along with a magnification in the center of the image. The monitor includes two HDMI 2.1 ports and one DisplayPort 1.4a, but it lacks a USB hub.
