LG SJ9 Dolby Atmos Soundbar with built-in Chromecasts

LG SJ9 Dolby Atmos Soundbar has been officially available in the United States and Europe. This is the first LG soundbar comes with Dolby Atmos and built-in Chromecast from the Korean manufacturer was first unveiled at CES 2017.

LG SJ9 soundbar comes with Dolby Atmos technology and sports a sleek design equipped with multiple speakers – including two powerful up firing speakers. It comes with 5.1.2 system and there are two up-firing units integrated on top of the soundbar that use the roof to reflect sound in the direction of the viewer. The subwoofer is external and wireless.

The LG Dolby Atmos Soundbar provides object-based sound. In addition to the normal multi-channel, it is possible to add a series of objects, now precisely identified various sounds such as the hum of a fly or the noise of a helicopter or an airplane. These sounds are identified as objects in the process of content production. This way you can control playback accurately, assigning them to certain speakers and following the shift in time and space. In simple, it is a technology that tries to recreate the precise placement of sounds in three-dimensional space.

The LG SJ9 also sports “4K Sound”, a term that has raised eyebrows across the world and that LG describes as hi-resolution audio compatible with high quality lossless audio files that can recreate the sound recorded in the original studio. The SJ9’s Sound Upconverting feature increases the quality of standard audio files to 24bit/192Hz to enhance subtle details and nuances of each track.

The SJ9 includes an unspecified “Hi-Fi DAC”, a digital-to-analog converter also support high-resolution audio. It can play songs in FLAC (up to 192kHz / 24-bit), OGG (up to 48kHz), WAV, ALAC, MP3, WMA, AAC, AAC+ and AIFF. As for the home cinema, however, there is LPCM support, Dolby Atmos, Dolby True HD, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Surround.

The LG SJ9 integrates the Chromecast functionality and supports music streaming services like Spotify, Google Play Music, Pandora and so on. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 2.4 / 5GHz, Ethernet, Bluetooth 4.0 (with Sound Sync when connected to the LG TV), an optical input, 3.5 mm jack, HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2.
