It also features the latest DisplayPort 2.1 and HDMI 2.1, which offer higher bandwidth to meet the dual-mode requirements of resolution and refresh rate. Supporting both NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, it helps reduce screen tearing. It delivers a smoother gaming experience—traits that position it among the best FreeSync monitor options available today.

LG 27G850A-B Hands-On: First Impression

Unboxing

The outer box is made of environmentally friendly cardboard. There aren’t many fancy patterns on the box. There is a simple Ultra Gear Logo and 27G850A model 27-inch mark. Pay special attention when unpacking to avoid opening the screen the wrong way. There are simple installation instructions on both sides. Pay attention to the prohibited items when taking accessories and the screen. The internal parts are all protected by thick styrofoam.

All accessories include the monitor itself, cable cover, USB-A to USB-B cable, DisplayPort 2.1 cable, HDMI 2.1 cable, transformer and power cord, installation guide, warranty card, etc.

Display Features

The LG 27G850A-B features a 4K (3840 x 2160) Nano IPS Black matte panel that delivers stunning visuals. It supports one-click switching between 4K at 240Hz and Full HD at 480Hz, ensuring ultra-smooth gameplay. With a rapid 1ms GtG response time, 99% DCI-P3 color coverage, and VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification, this monitor caters to both gamers and creators. LG has equipped it with FreeSync Premium Pro and G-SYNC Compatible technology to minimize ghosting and screen tearing during fast-paced scenes. An RGB LED mood light on the back enhances the setup’s ambiance, which we’ll explore in more detail later. You can read the full specifications here.

4K 240Hz and FHD 480Hz dual modes are supported, eliminating the need for manual adjustments. Options to switch resolution and refresh rate are available in the screen control menu. Gamers mainly use 4K 240Hz for playing AAA game masterpieces, while they choose FHD 480Hz for competitive gaming.

Stand & Adjustability

The ergo monitor stand can be adjusted up and down by 110mm in height and rotated left and right by ±30°. It also pivots 90 degrees counter-clockwise for upright use. Of course, a pitch angle of -8° to 15° is also indispensable.

Design & Connectivity

The back of the screen is curved, featuring the LG UltraGear Logo and an RGB soft light mask in the center.

The 4K freesync monitor stand also has a dot-matrix UltraGear pattern and cable management holes underneath.

There are two HDMI 2.1 and one DisplayPort 2.1 interface on the left side of the rear I/O.

The right I/O has a USB-A to USB-B port, a USB-A input, and a power jack. There is also a power switch and control buttons located just below the screen, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack on the lower right.

Once the wires are positioned and organized, the wire cover can be installed smoothly.

There is also a three-dimensional Ultra Gear Logo just below the front of the screen.

The base of the screen also has LG’s logo. I must say that the base has a certain weight to ensure the screen does not shake easily when it hits the table. It is very stable and reliable!

Lighting & HDR

The lighting effect after Hexagon Lighting is turned on. If you place it behind a screen and someone is watching, you can turn on RGB to show off.

VESA DisplayHDR 600 is particularly well-suited for detailed comparison. It can present more realistic colors. I didn’t feel anything when I just looked at the picture. There is a big difference when I compare the two images.

Final Line

From our LG 27G850A-B hands-on experience, it’s clear that this monitor isn’t just built for speed—it’s also tuned for flexibility. The 4K 240Hz and FHD 480Hz modes work well across various gaming styles, while the LG Nano IPS monitor panel delivers genuine depth to color and contrast. Combined with solid ergonomics, updated ports, and practical design touches, the 27G850A-B hits the mark for gamers who want more than just high specs on paper.
