Last year, LG introduced an innovative daisy chain dual monitor solution with the LG 27QP88D, which combined two LG 27-inch QHD displays on a flexible dual ergo stand. Now, a new edition with improved energy efficiency has hit the market, offering even more benefits.

The LG 27QP88DP appears to be virtually identical to its predecessor, apart from the upgraded panel. The two LG 27-inch QHD displays still feature IPS technology, boasting a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels (WQHD) with a maximum refresh rate of 75 Hz. These displays cover 99 percent of the sRGB color space and include HDR10 support.
In terms of specifications, the data sheet reveals an 8-bit color depth, 350 cd/m² typical brightness, 1000:1 contrast ratio, and a 5 ms response time (grey to gray). Gaming enthusiasts will appreciate features like FreeSync (without LFC) and a black stabilizer. On the connectivity front, the monitors offer two DisplayPorts (input and output), an HDMI input, a USB 3.0 hub, and a headphone output.
The two monitors can be connected through an LG monitor daisy chain, utilizing the DisplayPorts on each monitor. Additionally, each monitor features a USB-C port that supports charging notebooks and transmitting video signals via DisplayPort alternate mode. The monitors provide a wide range of ergonomic adjustments, including rotation, tilt, height adjustment, and pivot, as well as the ability to push the screen forward or pull it backward.
As if that weren’t enough, the LG 27-inch QHD displays on the Dual Ergo Stand can be positioned in various configurations. Users can arrange them side by side, stack them vertically in landscape or portrait format, or create a mixed arrangement. LG has also incorporated a blue light filter and a flicker-reduced backlight for eye comfort. The base of the stand can be securely attached to the edge of a desk.
Compared to its predecessor, the new LG Ergo Dual 27QP88DP boasts improved energy efficiency, consuming only 26 watts in SDR mode instead of the previous 32 watts. As a result, it falls under the EU energy efficiency class F instead of G. However, the HDR power requirement remains the same at 37 watts.
Price and availability
The LG daisy chain dual-display solution starts at approximately £750, but it is currently available on Amazon.co.uk for £657.
