I am particularly interested in gaming laptops because they combine powerful performance with eye-catching designs, both inside and out. While Asus continues to enhance its ROG lineup, Lenovo is equally focused on offering top-tier mid-range gaming laptops. Now, let’s dive into the Lenovo LOQ 15ARP9 review to assess its performance and user experience.

This spring, Lenovo launched the LOQ 15ARP9, targeting mid-range users with reliable performance. Along with its robust capabilities, the device’s design stands out, combining elegance with visual appeal. The following sections will provide a detailed look at its design.
Lenovo LOQ 15ARP9 Review
Design
While performance is the primary focus of gaming laptops, external design also plays a key role in purchasing decisions. Lenovo has invested in durable exteriors, ensuring both sturdiness and consistency with the signature style of the LOQ line.

The Lenovo LOQ 15ARP9 features a bold design reminiscent of a battleship, combining a large, striking build with meticulously crafted lines for a sleek and impressive look. Not only that, the laptop is also processed with metal material, bringing a certain elegance – true to the style and segmentation of Lenovo.

The Lenovo LOQ 15ARP9 offers great value for its price, but what truly stands out is Lenovo’s attention to design. While gaming laptops are expected to be solid and durable, this model strikes the right balance, delivering both performance and build quality. Every detail feels thoughtfully crafted, leaving a lasting impression. Lenovo’s commitment to quality extends beyond the LOQ series, reflecting a consistent dedication across its entire product lineup.
Connectivity
Speaking of ports, the Lenovo LOQ 15ARP9 offers all the essential options, acting like a central hub you can customize into either a “companion” or a “desktop workstation.” Most of the ports are placed on the back and right sides, but oddly, the left side is left empty, giving the design a slightly unbalanced feel.

The right side includes a USB-C port, USB-A port, 3.5mm audio jack, and a camera on/off switch. This layout offers convenient access for connecting a mouse, charging a phone, or using wired headphones.

The back of the laptop features several additional ports, including a LAN port, an HDMI port, two USB-A ports, and a power port. The power port resembles a USB-A port, which may cause initial confusion. However, the marked symbols on each port help ensure correct connections.
Display
One of the standout features of the Lenovo LOQ 15ARP9 is its screen. The laptop offers a beautiful display with impressive specifications, featuring a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Its thin bezels—except for the bottom edge—maximize the viewing area.

Some may wonder why the bottom bezel isn’t thinner. After using the laptop, I found that the thicker bottom edge enhances the viewing angle by reducing the need to look downward, helping to prevent eye fatigue during long sessions. It also encourages an upright sitting posture, aligning the screen with eye level, which promotes comfort and efficiency for extended work periods.
I like the colors on the LOQ 15ARP9 because Lenovo has done a great job with the display, even though it uses an IPS LCD panel. With 100% sRGB color coverage, enhanced anti-glare features, and wide viewing angles, the laptop offers a vivid movie-watching experience. The dark colors appear deep, and the refresh rate is well-maintained.

Regardless, it is still a gaming laptop, so the company cannot ignore the smooth frame factor. Although it does not give it an OLED panel, the company has made up for it with a 144 Hz refresh rate, providing a smooth frame experience. The difference between 144 Hz and 120 Hz is not much, but if you use 144 Hz and return to 120 Hz, you will have to thank Lenovo for the smoothness that Lenovo brings to the LOQ 15ARP9.
Keyboard and Touchpad
Speaking of the keyboard, I am satisfied with what Lenovo offers in the LOQ 15ARP9. At a glance, it is evident that the company has included all the essential keys for users, including a numeric keypad, dedicated function keys, and standard letter and symbol keys.

But, what I enjoyed the whole experience was the distance between the keys. You may pay attention to the sharp screen, strong performance, or heat dissipation… when choosing to buy a laptop for yourself, but the actual typing experience is what users have to deal with every day.
The key spacing is generous, and the keys offer a responsive, bouncy feel with high elasticity—this stood out during this Lenovo LOQ 15ARP9 review. I rarely pressed the wrong key, making typing and data entry smoother. Additionally, the left, right, up, and down navigation keys are full-sized, enhancing my gaming experience. Overall, I’m satisfied with these aspects.

The key travel is shallow, but the keys respond quickly and effectively. You might wonder why I emphasize the keyboard—it’s a standout feature of Lenovo devices, and in this laptop, its practicality truly shines. Additionally, the keyboard includes a backlight with two brightness levels (bright and dim), ensuring comfortable use in various lighting conditions.
The touchpad design is influenced by its size, which matches that of the keys. The navigation keys are about the same size—possibly even larger—than the letter keys, reducing the available palm rest space and shifting the touchpad slightly to the left.
The touchpad’s size feels well-balanced—not too large or too small. Lenovo has enhanced its mechanical feedback and sound, delivering a satisfying tactile experience when pressed or tapped. The smooth surface ensures easy operation, with fast response times and minimal latency, improving overall usability. However, the left-side alignment may occasionally lead to accidental touches by the left palm.

For those who use an external mouse, pressing Fn + F10 to disable the touchpad is recommended. This helps avoid unintended cursor movements caused by accidental contact, ensuring a smoother experience.
Lenovo LOQ 15ARP9 review test
Carrying the DNA of strength and power, it’s no surprise that users, including myself, have high expectations for its performance. The device is available in three variants, with options up to an AMD Ryzen 7 7435HS and a GeForce RTX 4060. However, our Lenovo LOQ 15ARP9 review unit is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 5 7235HS, a GeForce RTX 3050 with 6 GB GDDR6, 12 GB of DDR5 RAM at 4,800 MHz, and a 512 GB PCIe Gen 4 M.2 SSD.
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 with 6 GB GDDR6 stands out in the specifications. Although it isn’t the most powerful discrete GPU, it provides reliable performance for mid-range needs. Combined with the AMD Ryzen 5 7235HS, it offers well-rounded capability, handling a variety of tasks without being restricted to a single use case.
Benchmark Scores
For the Lenovo LOQ 15ARP9 review, I used Geekbench 6 to assess overall performance, including single-core, multi-core, and AI capabilities. The CPU test yielded a single-core score of 1,567 and a multi-core score of 4,934.

In the overall performance test, the LOQ 15ARP9 achieved a Geekbench 6 score of 62,967. This impressive result demonstrates the device’s capabilities, exceeding expectations. In the AI test, Geekbench 6 gives results that are just as impressive as laptops in the same price range on the market.

To have a more impartial view, I used Cinebench R23 software to test the single/multi-core of the CPU. After about 15 minutes of waiting, Cinebench R23 gave the result with a single-core score of 1,307 pts, while the multi-core CPU score reached 6,863 pts.

In addition, users are also interested in the 512 GB SSD available on the LOQ 15ARP9. This SSD has a fairly modest capacity, but this is only one of the memory versions and users can upgrade to the 1 TB version (if needed).

Gaming
Of course, I will deliver the most realistic experience through gameplay, including Valorant, EA Sports FC Online, and Cyberpunk 2077. For these games, I pushed the graphics settings to near maximum (except for the UI in Valorant, which was set to medium). For Cyberpunk 2077, I adjusted the configuration to ensure the most stable performance.
Valorant:
The first game I played was Valorant. During movement and aiming phases, the FPS remained stable between 150–171, occasionally rising to 191 FPS in the first 2–3 rounds. After more than an hour, the FPS fluctuated between 120–155, but this had no noticeable impact on the overall experience.

With direct attacks using machine guns, FPS will drop to 119 – 160 FPS but definitely will not drop below 100 FPS. With Valorant, I clearly feel the resonance of the beautiful screen, 144 Hz refresh rate, and RTX 3050, thanks to which adjusting the viewing angle/aiming is very smooth.
EA Sports FC Online:

Switching to FC Online, there is really no need to say too much when Lenovo LOQ 15ARP9 is more than enough to bring FPS up to 146 FPS (maximum), ranging from 135 – 146 FPS and stable for more than 1 hour. With tackles or long-range shots, FPS will drop by about 10 – 15 FPS, but it does not affect my overall experience.
Cyberpunk 2077:

The final game I tested for this review was Cyberpunk 2077. In my first playthrough, I set Ray Tracing to Ultra, with frame rates ranging between 41 and 53 FPS during an hour of gameplay. However, occasional stutters occurred. For smoother performance, I recommend lowering Ray Tracing to Low to boost the frame rate.
Heat dissipation
In this section of the Lenovo LOQ 15ARP9 review, I’ll focus on the cooling system. While I’m satisfied with aspects like the design and display, the cooling remains a mixed experience. The laptop lacks air vents on the sides, with ventilation limited to the area behind the keyboard. However, the cooling system delivers solid efficiency and stability.

I used HWiNFO to measure temperatures. During simultaneous use of Photoshop and Lightroom Classic, the CPU temperature averaged around 44°C, while the GPU reached 66°C. When gaming, the temperatures peaked at 86°C.

The temperature remains manageable, ensuring a smooth gaming experience. Another positive aspect is the minimal heat transfer to external surfaces, particularly the palm rest and top edge. Overall, Lenovo has done a commendable job with this product.
Battery life
The laptop has a 60-wheel battery, and I initially expected it to last about 3 hours. However, BatteryMon software measured the actual battery life at approximately 2.5 hours.

This outcome is understandable, given that the Lenovo LOQ 15ARP9 features a powerful configuration that demands significant power. For basic tasks, the laptop offers a battery life of nearly three hours. However, when gaming, frequent charging is necessary to maintain stability and maximize performance in “Performance Mode.”
Final line
The Lenovo LOQ 15ARP9 delivers a solid mid-range gaming experience, balancing performance, design, and value. Its AMD Ryzen and NVIDIA RTX configurations ensure reliable gaming and multitasking, while the 144 Hz display enhances smooth visuals. Key highlights include powerful performance, a stunning display, and efficient cooling capabilities.
Overall, it is an excellent choice for gamers seeking a durable, well-designed, and capable mid-range option.
Pricing for the Lenovo LOQ 15ARP9 starts at $799.99. Currently, Amazon offers a configuration with the AMD Ryzen 7 7435HS and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 for $999.
