At the event called SolidWorks World 2017, being held these days in Los Angeles, Lenovo has introduced its new updated line of ThinkPad P series notebooks, namely the ThinkPad Models P51, P51s and P71. All three provide high performance and very interesting hardware features and are placed in the segment of mobile workstations.
We start with the Lenovo ThinkPad P51 that comes in different variants equipped with Intel Xeon processors or 7th generation Intel Core SoC, and 15-inch display with 4K resolution and X-Rite Pantone color calibrator technology. The graphics are handled by Nvidia Quadro M2200M, it can mount up to 64GB DDR4 RAM and 2TB of internal memory for storing files.
It has a rugged outer body with a weight of 5.6 kg, and supports multiple operating systems including Windows 10 Home, Pro, Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Ubuntu Linux.
Now coming to the Lenovo ThinkPad P51s is meant to be the more portable option of the three Lenovo ThinkPad model list here, with a more compact frame and a total weight of 4.3 kg. It comes with a seventh-generation Intel Core-series processor, Nvidia Quadro M520M graphics card, can support up to 32GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. Even this notebook boasts IPS display with a maximum resolution of 4K, and Thunderbolt 3 connection.
The operating system will be based on Windows 7 Professional or the latest Windows 10 Pro with which will be provided also a trial version of Office 2013. A very interesting part is its dual hot-swappable batteries, letting you change batteries on the go without having to shut down.
Finally, the Lenovo ThinkPad P71, an interesting VR-Ready product with full full Oculus and HTC compatibility. The hardware department is similar to the P51 model from which only differs in a more diagonal display, it offers a 17-inch display, a more powerful Nvidia Quadro P5000M graphics card and a weight of 7.6 kg.
The Lenovo ThinkPad 51s price starting from $1,049, will be available from March, while the Lenovo ThinkPad P51 price starting at $1,399; and Lenovo ThinkPad P71 price at $1,849; and both will be available in April this year. All three models are MIL-SPEC certified, then turn out to be particularly sturdy and solid mobile workstation.
