As part of the “Celebration of Photography” in Wetzlar on November 4, 2021, Leica presented the Leica Q2 Reporter, which is now available. It is a particularly robust product variant with Kevlar reinforcement.
With a long tradition, the Leica Q2 Reporter is designed for the harsh operating conditions of reportage and press photographers. That is why the Leica Q2 Reporter is provided with protective armoring made of Kevlar, a synthetic fiber that is also used for the manufacture of protective equipment, instead of the traditional leather covering. This improved protection is combined with a more discreet design and a special finish in matt dark green, which is particularly scratch and abrasion-resistant.
The Kevlar fibers woven in an unmistakable pattern protect the camera efficiently from mechanical, chemical, and thermal stress. Due to the natural UV radiation of sunlight, the fabric, which is almost black in the delivery state, takes on roughly the same color as the paintwork. At the same time, the Kevlar fibers stand up a little and thus increase the grip of the camera. When designing the camera, great importance was attached to a cautious appearance: the red Leica logo on the front was deliberately omitted. The engravings on the control elements are carefully designed so that neither its intended use nor its actual value can be seen at first glance.
Leica Q2 Reporter Edition price and availability
The Leica Q2 Reporter is technically identical to the standard model, and the Reporter Edition is now available to pre-order from the Bhphotovideo.com, and Adorama.com online retailers at $5,995.
Earlier this year, Leica has introduced the Leica M10-R in a Black Paint finish. It is one the best rangefinder camera which not only presents a noble and classic Leica look but also has an inimitable way of showing the brass on the corners and edges after a long period of use underlines the individual character of the camera.
