The Leica M11 is being re-released with a Glossy Black brass housing, allowing the full-frame rangefinder camera to develop a beautiful patina after prolonged use. To match this, Leica is also offering the Noctilux-M 50mm f/1.2 ASPH. Lens in a glossy black version.
The Leica M11 camera, initially launched in January 2022 in silver and black, now comes in a new variant featuring a glossy black brass housing instead of chrome-plated aluminum. The glossy black camera edition weighs approximately 110 grams more and develops a patina over time, adding character with extended use.
This new luxury photography gear replaces the red Leica logo on the front with prominent Leica lettering on the top. Several changes distinguish the glossy black Leica M11 from the standard black version. The lens release button is now black instead of silver, while the ISO dial, shutter speed ring, and rear setting wheel feature updated designs. Furthermore, the “Made in Germany” lettering is prominently displayed in white on this model.
The camera is based on the Leica M11, not the M11-P, meaning it offers 64 GB of internal memory instead of 256 GB and lacks the CAI module for content credentials. Its technology remains unchanged, featuring a 60-megapixel full-frame sensor, an optical rangefinder, a UHS-II card reader, and Wi-Fi 5 for connecting to the Leica Photos smartphone app. The Leica M11 does not include autofocus or image stabilization.
Leica has also introduced a black-painted version of the Leica Noctilux-M 50mm f/1.2 ASPH. to complement the new Leica M11 Glossy Black edition. Leica’s fastest lens from 1966, now updated, earns praise for its distinctive bokeh. Even nearly 60 years after its original release, its speed remains remarkable.
Leica M11 Glossy Black price and release date
The Glossy Black camera edition is now available at a recommended retail price of $9,195, making it $200 more expensive than the technically identical model with a black chrome-plated aluminum housing. The Leica Noctilux-M 50mm f/1.2 ASPH. Lens costs $8,295, which corresponds to a surcharge of $310.
