The market for the best ultra short throw projectors is undoubtedly experiencing a very lively period: the latest multimedia projector the ViewSonic X2000B-4K is now available with a huge discount online.
The laser projector 4K also offers “smart” functionality. The smart projector measures 451 (L) x 332 (W) x 100 (H) millimeters. The lens has a 0.22: 1 shooting ratio, which translates into the ability to fill screens up to 150 inches.
The technology is the same that is used in almost all best ultra short throw projectors of this type: we find a single 0.47″ DLP chip with non-native Ultra HD resolution but obtained through eXpanded Pixel Resolution (XPR), a system that allows you to recreate four pixels for each of the 1920 x 1080 micro-mirrors present.
The X2000B-4K 4K projector for home adopts the 2nd generation Laser Phosphor Technology, offering a lamp-free lifespan of 20,000 hours and a luminous flux of 2,000 ANSI lumens. The data sheet reports a complete coverage of the Rec. 709 color space thanks to Cinema SuperColor Technology, a noise level between 30 and 32 dB (respectively in Eco and Normal mode), and a contrast ratio of 3,000: 1, and an input lag set at 40 ms.
The new laser projector 4K model supports HDR videos in HDR10 and HLG formats and has a 4-corner and 60-point correction in total, useful for compensating for distortions caused by imperfect alignment with the screen, and for projecting on curved surfaces. There is also the interpolation of the frames, which makes the images smoother.
The audio can be managed through external systems or by relying on the system made by Harman Kardon: there are 2 10 W tweeters and 2 15 W woofers for a total of 25 W. Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity allows both to receive a signal (for example from smartphones) or to send it to external systems or headphones. The smart projector is Dolby Audio and DTS-HD.
The “smart” features are managed through a proprietary platform (apparently derived from Android) with a store from which to download various applications: the manual shows those for Netflix, Prime Video, Spotify, Plex, and Kodi. There is also a media player capable of playing all popular media files.
Connectivity includes an Ethernet port, dual-band Wi-Fi, a composite video input on a 3.5mm jack, an analog audio output always on a 3.5mm jack, 2 USB-A 2.0 ports (5 V / 1.5 A), and 2 HDMI 2.0b inputs with HDCP 2.2, one of which is ARC compatible. The laser projector 4K model comes with the remote control, which lights up automatically at your service upon the lift thanks to a built-in G sensor.
