With the Laowa Argus 45mm f0.95 Venus Optics has expanded its Argus range. The super-bright, manually focussed fixed focal length is designed for mirrorless full-frame cameras. It is available for Canon RF, Nikon Z, and Sony E mounts.
The new lens complements the Laowa Argus 33mm f0.95 FF for full format and its variant for APS-C sensors Argus 33mm f0.95 CF Apo. (The latter is also available with the Canon M and Fuji X mounts.)
It is suitable for object photos and portraits but also ideal for the street, people, landscape, and astrophotography. The 15 aperture blades create a beautiful, super soft, and smooth bokeh with glowing light without hard edges. And that in absolutely sharp and clear images – even with the aperture open.
Like the other two Argus lenses mentioned above, the Argus 45mm f0.95 FF also has an aperture ring with a “click switch” or de-click mechanism, which can be used to switch the aperture ring between raster and stepless. Thus, the lens is equally suitable for photographers and filmmakers.
The robust metal housing of the lens with internal focussing is compact despite the enormous light intensity and therefore harmonizes with system cameras. Filters or an adapter ring with a 72mm diameter can be screwed directly onto the front thread. The focus and the aperture are set manually.
