Although well known for luxury SUVs, Land Rover also makes phones, mostly super-rugged phones. And now the British car company continues to introduce the new device called Explore, not following the trend of thin edges with a slim design that Explore is the Android Rugged Smartphone can be considered as the world’s most durable and especially own modular design for Additional accessories such as Moto Z.
This Android Rugged Smartphone was designed and built by Bullitt Group. The companies like Caterpillar (CAT), Kodak or JCB are also behind the super-durable models. Land Rover said Explore was inspired by the Discovery line, so the front of the phone has a grill section speaker design similar to the grille on the Discovery.
Land Rover Explore achieves IP68 dust and water resistant standards similar to many other high-end phones but can withstand up to 1.8m high, protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and It can operate in harsh environments ranging from heat to hot, heat shock, high humidity, or vibration.
Land Rover Explore is powered by a Deca-core 2.6 GHz processor with Helio X27 chipset, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage with microSD card support. For optics, there is a 16MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera for selfie. The device packs a 4000mAh battery and running Android 7 Nougat OS. It has a 5.0-inch FHD touch screen display and also supports 2 SIM card slots.
Besides the durable design, the Explore also features a modular design like the Moto Z, which allows users to add more accessories to extend the functionality. The Adventure Pack, for example, includes a 3600mAh battery and a 25mm ceramic antenna for GPS tracking. The module connects with the magnet and when the Adventure Pack is attached, the battery capacity will increase up to 7600mAh and the ability to GPS positioning will be improved thanks to a stronger signal.
So you can make long journeys to remote places. In addition, the Land Rover offers another module with a built-in 4370mAh battery and a module that allows the phone to be mounted on the bike. Similar to other super-rugged phones, the Land Rover Explore digital compass and SOS light, the touch screen can recognize operations even when wearing gloves or wet hands and access terrain via ViewRanger. It also provides information on wind, tides, and weather.
Land Rover Explore is priced at $800, which is expected to hit stores on April 26, 2018.
