Korg handytraxx play, 1bit and tube Portable Record Players for Audiophiles

Korg introduces three new record players with the Handytraxx Play, Tube, and 1bit, all of which can be powered by batteries for portable use. The top model records audio digitally as a high-resolution DSD signal, and all three models feature integrated speakers.

Korg powers the new Handytraxx record players with either a power adapter or six AA batteries. You can listen to records on the go for up to eleven hours without a power outlet. For this purpose, Korg also installs a 2.5-watt speaker and offers a cover that turns the record players into a 2.3- to 2.8-kilogram case to make transport easier.

All three models use a belt-driven motor and support records with 33 1/3, 45, or 78 revolutions per minute. The user sets the speed using a slider to the right of the turntable, where they can also set a delay and a live audio loop, along with a live recording of the record playing. These features make the Handytraxx models perfect for DJs.

The Korg Handytraxx Play is an entry-level model and uses an unspecified “stereo ceramic pickup.” The more expensive Handytraxx Tube uses a higher-quality phono preamplifier with tubes and a JICO J44A 7 moving magnet pickup. This model integrates a headphone amplifier with a line of 70 mW at 32 ohms and an equalizer that lets users adjust the bass and treble independently by up to 8 dB louder or quieter.

The Handytraxx 1bit is the top model in the series and can digitally record records in DSD format, with a maximum of 5.6 MHz. However, the most expensive model also has a higher-quality Nutube preamplifier.

Last year, Astell & Kern introduced the brand new A&Ultima SP3000M hi-def music player. It is much more compact and cheaper than the older SP3000 but makes no compromises regarding sound quality. The battery life, storage, and range of functions are practically identical to the top models.
