iPhone SE Camera Teardown by Chipworks: Front has Omnivision and Back with Sony Sensors

Apple iPhone SE Camera Teardown by Chipworks has revealed differences in the camera module between the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.iPhone SE Camera Teardown

According to Chipworks, iPhone SE is said to use the front camera of the iPhone 5s with Omnivision sensors, while rear camera without optical image stabilization combined with Sony Exmor RS sensor.

FaceTime Camera:iPhone SE FaceTime

iPhone SE FaceTime front-facing camera, specifically designed to capture high quality selfies. Apple integrates 1.2MP resolution BSI CMOS sensor provided by Ominivision, which is used on the iPhone 5s. This image sensor with 1.75 micron pixel size and camera aperture is f/2.4. Meanwhile, the front camera of the iPhone 6 also has a resolution of 1.2MP, but is provided by Sony and a larger aperture, reaching up to f/2.2.


iSight Camera:iPhone SE iSight

The rear camera on the iPhone SE features a 12MP resolution with 4K video and live photo features share same ability as iPhone 6s, but no optical image stabilization. The iPhone SE iSight camera uses Sony Exmor RS sensor and 1.22 micron pixel size.
