Apple has officially introduced the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max along with the iPhone 14 & 14 Plus (Hands-On). Both smartphones have received numerous upgrades, from the always-on display to the significantly brighter AMOLED panel to the “Dynamic Island”, which will be used in many ways.
The well-known notch gives way to a pill-shaped punch hole, which houses the front camera and the Face ID module for facial recognition. Apple calls this punch hole “Dynamic Island” because the “dead area” has been fully integrated into the operating system so that the black area is simply expanded. For example, a loading process or music is played. If the user taps this area, the black area can be expanded, for example, to display a music widget.
And it turned out great when Apple exploited the screen area around that “Island” to turn it into a great feature to display notifications, short content, or a small, private interaction area. A small island on a big screen. If you’ve used LG V10, you’ve seen something similar to this… but the iPhone 14 Pro is on a very different level.
However, we also tell you that the notch is a whole technological sky that for many years no company has been able to popularize their smartphones like Apple. Carrying hundreds of millions of smartphones with a facial recognition solution as a secure key for your phone is more convenient and smarter than ever. Beneath that notch is an improved Face ID-enabled hardware system that is smaller in size and takes up less screen space. A clear chin on previous iPhone models now only has a small black bar.
Dynamic Island will be the most influential part of your experience. It’s right there on your iPhone screen. Music players, navigation, clock… and thousands of other apps will exploit that island. It’s over.
48 MP rear camera: massive upgrade
The second point we want to share with you is the rear camera with a new sensor and a new focal length. The new focal length is 24mm, which is slightly wider than before. Apple has always used a 26mm focal length for their main camera. About the sensor, we will have a resolution four times higher than the resolution of the current sensor. Although compared to other smartphones, it is not too big. However, you know that with only 12Mp, the iPhone Pro’s camera is not inferior to many other MP sensors of other brands.
By default, iPhone Pro will combine 4 pixels on the sensor into 1, so we will have an output image with a resolution of still 12MP. However, the advantage that you have is that the pixels are now larger, so they can capture more light and more information, so it will be very useful for the iPhone’s subsequent processing solutions.
Apple promises twice as good photos in low light. The camera has a lens with seven lens elements and an aperture of f/1.79. The sensor is stabilized. Apple installs a 12 MP ultra wide-angle camera (13 mm, f/2.2) with macro function and a 12 MP telephoto camera with triple zoom. However, users also have the option of using 2x zoom by cropping the 48MP image from the main camera to 12MP.
Appearance and feel
The iPhone Pro series has a steel frame. We have no information about another smartphone made of steel like the iPhone Pro series. The steel makes it more durable and sturdier, holds its style longer, and looks better. Apple also completes the glossy iPhone Pro frames that look very shimmering and beautiful.
This year they made another purple color, which is quite special, but not as impressive as when they released the Olive green version.
The feeling of holding the Pro series is a little heavy. iPhone 14 Pro weighs 204 grams, and iPhone 14 Pro Max weighs 240 grams. iPhone Pro is the heaviest smartphone today when the screen is similar in size.
The Apple iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max get numerous upgrades, starting with the new display, which is again 6.1-inches or 6.7-inches depending on the model but has thinner bezels and a significantly higher peak brightness of up to 2,000 nit offers. The LTPO AMOLED panel supports a new always-on mode, and the frame rate can be dynamically adjusted up to 120 Hz as usual.
In terms of hardware configuration, iPhone 14 Pro comes with new hardware with an A16 Bionic Chip made with a 4nm process with the number of transistors and leading processing capabilities.
The all-new Apple A16 Bionic has 16 billion transistors, which means the chip is said to be 40 percent more powerful than the fastest chips from the competition. The production takes place with a structure width of 4 nm, whereby the improved efficiency cores should consume two-thirds less power than the competition. As with the A15 Bionic, Apple has installed a graphics chip with five computing units.
The Apple iPhone 14 Pro can also send emergency calls without a connection to the mobile network by connecting the smartphone to a satellite. To do this, users must have a clear view of the sky and align the iPhone with a satellite, which should be uncomplicated with appropriate help on the screen. Aside from emergency calls, the satellite connection can also be used to send your location to friends. The feature should be available from November, and the function will be free for at least the first two years.
