The brand-new Insta360 X5 action camera is said to record significantly better 8K videos, especially in low-light situations, thanks to a 144 percent larger sensor and an AI Night Mode. Interchangeable front lenses and a longer battery life round out the upgrades.

The successor to the Insta360 X4 ( approx. $425 / £426 on Amazon) is here, and at first glance, it looks almost unchanged. However, the waterproof housing (up to a depth of 15 meters) now hides significantly larger sensors—both cameras now feature a 1/1.28-inch sensor, which is 144 percent larger than the 1/2-inch sensor used in the previous waterproof action model.
The integrated image processor promises 140 percent more performance. It records video in 11K resolution and downsamples it to a final 8K resolution at 30 frames per second, producing more detailed images with less noise. In addition to the significantly larger sensor, the Insta360 X5 also offers an AI Night Mode, which the manufacturer calls “PureVideo.” The design reduces image noise and enables a wider dynamic range.
The new tactical sports camera waterproof model can record stabilized HDR videos in 5.7K resolution at 60 fps. The new InstaFrame feature also records a portrait-format video, in addition to 360-degree videos, and lets users share it directly on social networks like Instagram or TikTok. If the front lens of one of the two lenses breaks, users can replace it in just a few steps.
The upgraded 2,400 mAh battery allows up to 185 minutes of continuous video recording in stunning 5.7K resolution. With Hyper Charging technology, you can power up the camera to 80% in just 20 minutes, keeping you ready to capture every moment without long wait times.
