iiyama ProLite XB2779QQS 5K Monitor With 27-inch IPS Display Announced

iiyama has started to make available the ProLite XB2779QQS 5K monitor, a very interesting product not only because of its technical specs but also for the quality and affordable price. Strangely, the company has not made any official announcement, but the new 5K monitor is now listed on the manufacturer’s website as well as in several European stores.

The iiyama ProLite XB2779QQS uses a 27-inch IPS panel with a resolution of 5120 x 2880 pixels (16:9), and with the ability to display 14.7 megapixels, 7 times more than regular Full-HD displays.

The design is rather refined and elegant, characterized by a matte black plastic chassis on the back and a silver strip positioned at the bottom of the front.

As for the other specifications, the iiyama monitor offers the classic features of IPS panels; it starts from wide viewing angles (178/178°), brightness up to 440 cd/m2, 1200:1 native contrast and 4ms response time.

Unfortunately, iiyama XB2779QQS, in fact, is an 8-bit monitor and does not support HDR, also the refresh-rate stops at only 60 Hz. As for the equipment on the other hand, on the back, we find three HDMI (limited to 3840×2160) and a 1.3 display port that can guarantee enough bandwidth for the 5K to 60 Hz. Finally, mention the PiP and PbP functionalities and the VESA support, while for the power consumption, we have a maximum of 60 Watts.

iiyama ProLite XB2779QQS 5K display price is around EUR 800 – approximately US$981, which will be found more or less at several European online stores.
