iConnectivity AUDIO4c: Audio and MIDI Interface for all Purposes

iConnectivity shows AUDIO4c, a new audio and MIDI interface that is compatible with macOS, Windows, Android, and iOS. According to the manufacturer, the mini USB audio interface should not only be suitable for streaming and recording but also cut a fine figure in a live performance.

Stream, Play, and Record – three modes provide preconfigured settings for the inputs and outputs of this interface. And they are quite impressive: four XLR / jack combo sockets (microphone preamps with 48 V phantom power) as inputs, four jack outputs, a headphone connection, in and out for MIDI (DIN), and USB-MIDI.

There are also two USB-C ports, and an adapter is included for computers and devices with older connections. Anyone using the iPhone or iPad needs a camera connection kit. While you are using the mini USB audio interface, the connected device charges itself with electricity. Practically! According to the manufacturer, it is even possible for two devices to use the interface at the same time and exchange audio and MIDI data via it.

The Auracle software for macOS and Windows takes care of the configuration and the routing of analog and running over USB inputs and outputs. The interface saves settings in the internal flash memory. AUDIO4c can also serve as a kind of mixer for the analog inputs without connecting to a computer or smart device.

The stream button in the associated Auracle app offers direct access to all inputs and outputs and is intended to create quick configurations for streaming tasks. The additional software you get is a sampler with a few packs from Big Fish Audio and the lite version of Ableton Live.

Price and availability

iConnectivity AUDIO4c Audio and MIDI interface has been priced at $399.99 and it can be purchased via the Amazon.com and Bhphotovideo.com websites. It is compatible with macOS, Windows, iOS (version 8 or newer), and Android (version 8 or newer). iOS devices with Lightning connectors require a camera connection kit, Android devices a USB-C connector. The Auracle app runs on macOS (from 10.11) and Windows (from 10).

Earlier this month, MOTU brings its UltraLite Mini USB Audio interface into the fifth generation. UltraLite-mk5 continues to rely on generous features, low latencies, and high compatibility. A few new features make the interface even more appealing – for both the studio and the stage.
