Huawei today enters into the smart speakers segment with the announcement of the Sound X. As you can see in the images, it resembles the Apple HomePod. There is the same shape of the housing and the LED ring on top. The price is also quite similar for its new product, Huawei asks for $285, and a set of two will be sold for $553.
Let’s move on to the features. The smart speakers are designed to have a 360-degree sound, so it does not matter how to position it. Inside is a double subwoofer with a 60-watt power and 48-watt full-range speaker with 82dB/m/W sensitivity. Huawei focuses on the fact that the frequency range of the speaker starts at 40 Hz. In addition, this is the first smart speaker with a Hi-Res certificate. It is also worth noting that Devialet worked on the column with Huawei.
Six microphones allow the Huawei Sound X to perceive voice commands at a distance of up to five meters. It is powered by MediaTek MT8518 SoC and packs 1GB of RAM as well as 8GB of internal storage. For quick pairing with a smartphone, there is an NFC connectivity.
The dimensions of the device are 165 x 203 mm with a weight of 3.5 kg. There is no choice of color options – only Black. Huawei will start accepting pre-orders starting from tomorrow, and it will go on sale on December 5.
