In addition to the recently introduced IPS black screen HP Series 7 Pro 734pm, the US company has also launched another new high-resolution conferencing monitor with extensive features. The HP 740pm uses a classic IPS panel with 5K2K resolution (5120 x 2160 pixels, 21:9), measures 39.7 inches diagonally, and has a 2500R curvature.
The contrast ratio is 1000:1, with a color depth of 10 bits (8 bits + FRC), brightness of 300 cd/m², and a response time of 5 ms (gray-to-gray). Power consumption is 39 watts, resulting in an EU energy efficiency rating of class F (out of G). The ultra-wide 5K2K screen also supports 100 percent sRGB, 98 percent DCI-P3, and a Delta-E value of less than 2.
The new HP Series 7 Pro display comes equipped with a 13 MP webcam, a noise-canceling microphone, and two 5-watt speakers, making it ready for video conferences straight out of the box.
In terms of connections, you can use DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0, Thunderbolt 3 (with USB-C and 100-watt PD), a USB 3.0 hub, and an RJ-45 socket.
A USB-C docking station is available, but there is no hardware KVM switch or daisy-chaining option. However, the monitor does support picture-by-picture mode and includes HP Device Bridge 2.0 software. This software allows input devices to be shared between two computers, though it must be installed on both PCs to function.
HP 740pm price and availability
Regarding ergonomics, tilt, rotation, height adjustment, VESA mount (100 x 100 mm), blue light filtering, and flicker-free backlight are available. HP 740pm is now available for $1,442.55 on Amazon and $1,447.66 on Newegg. The manufacturer offers a three-year warranty.
