Hasselblad 907X Anniversary Edition Kit: Medium Format Camera Pre-order Open

Hasselblad presents the “907X Anniversary Edition Kit” to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the introduction of the first Hasselblad camera – the HK-7 – in 1941. The Hasselblad 907X Medium Format camera kit consists of the slim 907X camera housing and the detachable “CFV II 50C” digital back (50 Mpx), as the combination was first presented in summer 2019.

The Anniversary Kit also includes accessories such as the control handle and the optical viewfinder as well as the XCD 3.5 / 30 lens, all of which normally have to be purchased separately. There is also a video on YouTube for the launch of the AE kit.

Since their inception, photographers have relied on Hasselblad cameras to capture countless iconic moments and moving stories, including documenting the historic moment of the first humans on the moon. Over the past eight decades, Hasselblad has repeatedly pushed the boundaries of medium format and image processing technology with innovative developments and unique photo styles, providing endless inspiration for creative people who strive for top performance.

In the 1950s, Hasselblad developed its first wide-angle camera series, the Super Wide Camera. Back then, correcting optical aberration and distortion in wide-angle lenses was a challenge because the aspherical lenses we know today were not yet available. With the SWC, however, a new path has been taken. Instead of a mirror, an optical see-through viewfinder design was used, which allowed the rear element to be placed closer to the focal plane, effectively reducing aberration and distortion. These developments led to clear, unadulterated images and also enabled a significantly slimmer camera housing. Decades later, the SWC camera is still known for its outstanding design and excellent image quality.

The 30mm wide angle lens in the Hasselblad 907X Anniversary Edition Kit was carefully chosen to recreate the SWC’s Biogon 38mm wide angle lens. The lens of the 907X Anniversary Edition has a brand new lens design and features a finely etched focus ring with the Hasselblad logo printed on it. The camera and the handle of the kit are covered with black, grained synthetic leather and decorated with anodized Lunar Gray. This combination is also matched to the colors of the SWC. There is also a badge on one side of the camera that reads “Hasselblad Since 1941”, while Hasselblad is handwritten on both the camera body and the optical viewfinder.

The 907X brings the legacy of the SWC camera back to life by adding modern elements. In addition, to live view and autofocus, the camera housing of the 907X is fully compatible with HC / HCD, V, and XPan lens adapters and enhances the recording options with the CFV II 50C digital back. This digital back fits seamlessly into the housing of a film camera and combines analog and digital technologies.

The digital back CFV II 50C has a touch-sensitive and tiltable display on the back, which enables effortless recordings at waist height. The digital back with its 50Mpx image sensor in small and medium format can be used with any V-System camera. Its screen can be folded up to take photos at waist height, as if using a shaft viewfinder, and to facilitate image composition, focusing and checking when the camera is in a low position.
