Google Lens was the star of some of the most astonishing demos we saw during the Google I/O 2018. Here are the features that will arrive within the next few weeks:
Smart Text Selection – Google Lens will not only be able to recognize writings, signs, and menus, but even it will be possible to select the copy and paste text from the real world and obtain additional information instantly.
Real-time Answers – just frame an object for a few moments and immediately receive relevant information. Now you’ll be able to browse the world around you, just by pointing your camera. This is only possible with state-of-the-art machine learning, using both on-device intelligence and cloud TPUs, to identify billions of words, phrases, places, and things in a split second.
Style Match – Lens will be able to recognize the style of objects and clothes and propose relevant results in real time, thanks to the advanced models of machine learning. Now, with style match, if an outfit or home decor item catches your eye, you can open Lens and not only get info on that specific item but see things in a similar style that fit the look you like.
Google also noted how many manufacturers are rapidly integrating Lens into their camera’s app: LG, Nokia, OnePlus, Motorola, Xiaomi, Sony and many others. As per image above, we point out two brand names are still missing: Samsung and HTC.
The news mentioned above will be made available in the coming weeks.
