Garmin Forerunner 570: Pro GPS Triathlon Watch with AMOLED

With the Forerunner 570, Garmin introduces a brand-new built-in GPS fitness tracker smartwatch between the Forerunner 265 and the Forerunner 970. Garmin explicitly targets runners and triathletes with this smartwatch, featuring a more colorful design, an AMOLED display, and a remarkably lightweight case.

Garmin Forerunner 570 Pro GPS Triathlon Watch witn AMOLED

Garmin will likely position the new Forerunner 570, a mid-range smartwatch, between the older Forerunner 265 and the new Forerunner 970. It features a slightly more playful design. Garmin offers variants with an aluminum bezel in green, red, or purple and lets buyers choose between a smaller 42 mm and a larger 47 mm version.

The watch weighs 42 or 50 grams, depending on the size, and features a 1.2-inch or 1.4-inch AMOLED display. The battery life is relatively short by Garmin standards—in smartwatch mode, Garmin advertises ten or eleven days of battery life, depending on the size; the screen’s always-on mode will likely reduce this further. With continuous GPS use, the battery life drops to 18 hours; if you use all GNSS frequencies for more precise positioning while listening to music, you’ll only get eight hours.

Forerunner 570 Skips ECG and Flashlight

Compared to the more expensive Forerunner 970, the Forerunner 570 compromises in several areas – it offers only 8 GB of storage for apps, maps, and music instead of 32 GB, omits both the ECG and LED flashlight without offering replacements, and excludes the new metrics Running Economy and Running Tolerance, which measure efficiency and strain while running.

Garmin includes a heart rate and SpO2 sensor, a skin temperature sensor, an NFC chip for contactless payment, and speakers and microphones for making phone calls with the smartwatch as long as the smartphone is within Bluetooth range. Garmin Coach is also on board for training recommendations, while the integrated map app offers navigation features. With features like PacePro, track training, and the dedicated triathlon and multi-spot apps, Garmin aims to set itself apart from many competitors.

Garmin Forerunner 570 Price and Availability

The Garmin Forerunner 570 can be purchased from the Amazon online shop for $549.99, which is exactly $200 cheaper than the new Forerunner 970 but also more expensive than the older Forerunner 265S (approx. $350 / £321 on Amazon).
