With the Edge MTB, Garmin presents a bike computer specifically designed for mountain biking. The Garmin Edge MTB offers robust, waterproof housing, automatic downhill tracking, and an exact GPS module.

It is the manufacturer’s first bike computer specifically designed for mountain biking. To meet the demands of mountain bikers, Garmin utilizes a robust casing with a Corning Gorilla Glass front and an IPX7 certification, ensuring the Edge MTB is water-resistant.
The display, measuring 2.13 inches diagonally, is smaller than the Edge 540 and only achieves a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. The battery life of up to 26 hours remains unchanged, dropping to 14 hours under demanding use. This is due in no small part to the improved route GPS module, which records the location five times per second for particularly precise route tracking. Downhill mode automatically records laps and detects when a lap is completed, pausing the recording until the next lap begins.
The Enduro mode also records elevation gain. The integrated Trailforks MTB maps can display nearby trails, including details on difficulty, length, and gradient. Garmin offers navigation features for both on-road and off-road trails. The Garmin Edge MTB bike computer can detect accidents and automatically notify emergency contacts. Additionally, LiveTrack allows selected users to track the Edge MTB’s location in real-time.
Garmin Edge MTB Price and Availability
The new Garmin bike computer is now available for $399.99 from Amazon’s online shop. This makes the list price $92.29 more than the less robust Edge 540 (approx. $308 on Amazon).
Last week, Garmin introduced the Tread 2 Overland Edition and Tread 2 SxS Edition navigators. These rugged off-road GPS devices feature a larger, brighter display than the original model. They offer turn-by-turn navigation on various trails and unpaved roads, along with a wide range of features. These Garmin navigators are now available on Amazon for $999.99 each.
