With the D2 Mach 1, Garmin has introduced a new, according to the manufacturer, particularly a high-quality smartwatch. The aviator watch model should offer pilots in particular real added value.
Garmin offers numerous smartwatches, fitness trackers, and also multisport watches, whereby Garmin also offers very special models that are intended to appeal to specific customer groups in particular. With the Garmin D2 Mach 1, the manufacturer has introduced a new model, especially for the aviator.
The D2 Mach 1 is a smartwatch with a 1.3-inch AMOLED display with a 416 x 416 pixels resolution. An always-on feature is optionally available. The 47 x 47 x 14.5-millimeter watch weighs 47 grams without the strap and is made of titanium. Depending on the model variant selected, either titanium or a leather strap is included.
The system brings several features, especially for pilots, and supports the display of the weather. There is also information about airports, such as the radio frequencies used and the orientation of the runways. The watch should also be able to navigate in the air, which also supports synchronization with the Garmin Pilot app.
Like the Fenix or Epix wearables, the aviator watch allows altitude to be displayed and recorded thanks to a built-in barometer. An optical sensor for measuring heart rate is installed, and oxygen saturation and stress levels can also be measured. Numerous training modes are also supported.
Garmin D2 Mach 1 price and availability
The Garmin D2 Mach 1 premium smartwatch is finally listed on the Amazon.com website at $1,142.65 for the variant with Oxford Brown Leather Band. Information on availability is not yet available, but interested parties can be notified via email.
Earlier this year, Garmin introduced the Aviation D2 Air X10 GPS Aviator watch. That “Aviator”, in particular, is not just a title to make an impression, given that Garmin’s smartwatch also integrates functions dedicated to aviation, as is the tradition of the D2 Air series: we are talking about forecasts and weather reports, Direct-to navigation, airport information, automatic flight logs, Pulse Ox and more. It costs $549.99.
