With Forerunner 955, Garmin is officially introducing its new smart premium GPS sports watch. The Garmin 955 is not only equipped with various new functions but also optional solar for extended runtime.
In addition to the cheaper Forerunner 255, Garmin also introduced its new smart premium GPS running and triathlon watch Forerunner 955. The combination of sports watch and smartwatch offers several improvements and innovations compared to the previous model Forerunner 945 (approx. $400 on Amazon).
Among other things, with the Forerunner 955, Garmin is bringing solar into the product range for the first time. The new smartwatch is optionally available as a Forerunner 955 Solar for an additional charge. Thanks to the solar charging function, the battery life is extended up to 20 days in smartwatch mode and up to 49 hours in GPS mode. According to the manufacturer, the classic and cheaper variant without solar lasts up to 15 days or 42 hours.
The Garmin 955 watch is operated via the 1.3-inch always-on color display and the traditional 5-button design for quick access to important health functions and more. The watch tracks every route with high precision with multi-frequency support (GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO) and navigates to the destination with the pre-installed colored TopoActive Europe maps.
Forerunner955 provides information about a lot of important data related to sports. In addition to performance measurements such as speed, heart rate, and distance, this includes VO2max, acute stress, extended training status, training effects, and more. There are extensive health and fitness functions not only in sports but also in everyday life. Among other things, the daily available Morning Report provides information on sleep quality, HRV, and more. There is also 24/7 heart rate measurement, stress level measurement, advanced sleep analysis, body battery, and more.
In addition to all the common and popular health and tracking functions that the predecessor and the cheaper Forerunner 255 already have on board, the top model offers additional features. The new training readiness combines various physiological measurements with other health data and classifies the readiness for the next training individually. There are also the usual numerous sports apps and the Health Snapshot, which logs the most important health data in a two-minute check and creates a report in Garmin Connect based on this. Music playback, Garmin Pay, smart notifications, weather, emergency assistance, and more complete the features.

The Garmin Forerunner 955 is available now on the Amazon.com and Adorama.com stores. The classic model is available in black and stone white/black at $499.99. The solar function of the Forerunner 955 Solar costs $100 extra.
