With the Galaxy S24 FE, Samsung is presenting the “Fan Edition” of its current flagships, which is supposed to offer a 6.7-inch AMOLED display, a waterproof casing, wireless charging, and Galaxy AI at a more affordable price. Samsung also wants to score points with seven years of updates.
The Galaxy S24 FE is now official, offering a more affordable alternative to the Galaxy S24+. Both phones have 6.7-inch displays, but the Fan Edition uses a lower-cost 1080p+ AMOLED panel. Its refresh rate is fixed at 60 Hz or 120 Hz, unlike the S24+, which adjusts dynamically based on content.
Samsung equips the Galaxy S24 FE with an Exynos 2400e, a slightly lower-clocked version of the Exynos 2400, which has an ARM Cortex-X4 performance core, five fast Cortex-A720 cores and four efficient Cortex-A520 cores. Samsung reduced the RAM from 12 GB to 8 GB. The battery in the Fan Edition shrinks to 4,700 mAh and charges via USB-C at up to 25 watts, though wireless charging is also available.
Samsung equips the Galaxy S24 FE with lower-resolution 10 MP selfie and 8 MP telephoto cameras but retains the 50 MP f/1.8 main camera with OIS and a 12 MP f/2.2 ultra-wide camera.
The Galaxy S24 FE is said to impress with numerous AI features, from Google’s Circle to Search to Samsung’s Generative Editing, which allows objects in photos to not only be removed but also moved or enlarged, to Instant SlowMo to turn regular videos into slow motion.
One of the key highlights of the Galaxy S24 FE is Samsung’s update policy. Specifically, this policy guarantees that the flagship will receive operating system and security updates for seven years. This long-term support enhances the device’s value and ensures users benefit from the latest features and security enhancements over time.
Samsung Galaxy S24 FE price in UK and release date
The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE will be available in the UK starting October 4, 2024. It will be available in blue, yellow, mint, or graphite and pre-order on Amazon.co.uk. The 128 GB model costs £649, while the 256 GB version is priced at £699.
