Fujifilm XF 18mm F1.4 R LM WR: Versatile and Powerful

The new Fujifilm XF 18mm F1.4 R LM WR prime lens has a focal length of 18 mm (equivalent to 27 mm in 35mm format), offers a high speed of F1.4 aperture, and is suitable for a wide variety of photographic situations.

With a length of only 7.56 cm and a weight of 370 g, the new Fujifilm lens has a filter size of 62 mm and a minimum focus distance of 20 cm (distance from the sensor to the object). This makes it a versatile lens, from landscape and city photography to portrait and wedding photography. The high light intensity of F1.4 offers additional flexibility in difficult lighting conditions, which also enables pictures with beautiful bokeh.

The new Fuji lens corresponds to the philosophy of the Fujifilm X series of developing lightweight and compact cameras and lenses with high image quality. The optical structure of the XF 18mm F1.4 R LM WR comprises 15 elements in 9 groups, including three aspherical lenses and an ED element to minimize optical aberrations. The six glass elements of the focus group move together to reduce aberration fluctuations that can be caused by focusing. In this way, uniform sharpness is achieved at every focus position of the lens.

The Fuji XF 18mm F1.4 uses an internal autofocus system that is driven by a powerful linear motor to enable fast, accurate, and almost noiseless autofocus. From the minimum object distance (MOD) of the lens of 20 cm to infinity, the focus group of the lens element moves a total of only 2.5 mm. This means that the focus comes into focus in just 0.04 seconds.

For precise control during manual focusing, the components of the manual focus ring have been specially designed to react precisely, especially when the focus ring is moved slightly.

The XF 18mm F1.4 R LM WR is also ideally suited for use in bad weather and adverse conditions. The metal housing is sealed at eight points. This protects the inside of the lens from splash water and dust and ensures that it is ready for use in cold weather down to minus 10 degrees Celsius. A locking function enables the aperture ring to be locked in the Auto position to prevent it from being accidentally adjusted when taking a picture.

The Fujifilm XF 18mm F1.4 R LM WR lens will be available from the end of May for $999 and is now available to pre-order on Bhphotovideo.com and Adorama.com stores.
