Fujifilm GFX 50R has been officially announced at Photokina 2018, this is a medium-format mirrorless digital camera equipped with a 51.4MP sensor. Despite this, the magnesium alloy body – sealed in 64 points to ensure resistance to dust and extreme temperatures – is particularly compact.
Fujifilm describes the GFX 50R as an optimal solution that combines high image quality with a perfect color reproduction and high-performance lenses. Born from the experience gained with GFX 50S, reducing in size (66.4mm in thickness, 25mm thinner) and weight (775 grams, 145 grams less).
The rangefinder style design allows photographers to keep one eye on the subject while looking through the viewfinder with the other eye, enabling users to check the scene around the subject matter to ensure optimal capture. It is equipped with a 0.77x magnification and 3.69M-dot OLED electronic viewfinder for accurate focusing and framing images.
Fujifilm GFX 50R features the 43.8 x 32.9mm G format sensor is capable of receiving more light per pixel than a 35mm full frame at the same resolution. As Fujifilm states, “GFX 50R have been designed to optimize light gathering performance and image resolution to deliver images that precisely reproduce the subject’s texture, three-dimensional feel and even the atmosphere of each scene”. The image processing engine is the X-Processor Pro, while the well-known photographic films (Velvia, Provia, Acros on all) are not lacking.
The focus is adjusted quickly with the joystick: in this way, Fujifilm has managed to free space by eliminating the selection buttons to allow the photographer to better camera grip. On the upper side, there are two dials for shutter speed and exposure compensation. The GFX 50R is also the first camera in the range to support Bluetooth LE for transferring images to a smartphone or tablet via the official Fujifilm Camera Remote app.
There are 7 Fujinon GF lenses available, with focal lengths ranging from 23 to 250mm (equivalent to 18-198mm).
Fujifilm GFX 50R price in USA starts from $4,499.95 for the body only and is already listed on the Bhphotovideo.com with ‘Notify when Available’ tab. The camera will be available in late November 2018.
