Fujifilm brings X-S10 Mirrorless Digital Camera with Easy Operation

With the Fuji X-S10, Fujifilm is expanding the X series with a compact mirrorless camera with easy operation and professional features. Equipped with a high-resolution 26.1 megapixel X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor, the powerful X-processor 4, and an integrated image stabilizer (IBIS), it delivers images of exceptional quality.

The Fujifilm X-S10 is aimed at consumers who want a lightweight camera with modern photo and video functions. It is user-friendly and strongly geared towards Auto mode, in which the camera automatically adjusts all settings to the subject. There are advanced video functions such as 4K / 30p recording with 10 bit and 4: 2: 2 color scanning or high-speed recording with 240 frames per second for slow-motion sequences. Another feature of the camera is the rotatable and swiveling touchscreen LCD for photo enthusiasts, bloggers, and filmmakers who share their pictures with friends and fans via social media.

The 5-axis image stabilization (IBIS) built into the mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera is around 30 percent more compact and lighter than previous models. In total, the X-S10 weighs just 465 grams and allows up to six EV levels of longer exposure times. As the first mid-range model, it is equipped with mechanical shock absorbers on the lock. These protect the sensor from vibrations caused by the locking mechanism. This means that images of high brilliance and sharpness can be taken in every shooting situation.

The large, ergonomic grip of the Fuji X-S10 also contributes to a steady camera position. It consists of a robust magnesium alloy and guarantees a secure hold even when using larger lenses. For additional stability and robustness, the upper and front housing plates are also made of a magnesium alloy.

With the digital film simulations, which are based on the look of legendary analog films, Fujifilm builds on its legacy of analog photography. The Fuji X-S10 has 18 of these image styles, including “Eterna Bleach Bypass” for a higher contrast feeling while maintaining the overall desaturated look.
The advanced automatic mode of the X-S10 automatically optimizes the camera settings according to the types of the object recognized. This makes it easy to create landscape images with brilliant and lively colors as well as attractive portraits with natural skin tones. Even in backlit situations, you can achieve well-balanced images without any advanced knowledge.

The autofocus of the Fuji X-S10 quickly focuses on the subject and even tracks dynamic subjects with high precision thanks to face and eye recognition. The focus is up to 0.02 seconds and works in the dark up to a light value of -7 EV. This performance is made possible by the X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor with 2.16 million phase AF pixels, which harmonizes perfectly with the fast clocked X processor 4.

Not only the autofocus of the new CMOS sensor digital camera is quick to react, but also the continuous shooting: with a mechanical shutter up to 8 pictures per second is possible, with an electronic shutter even up to 30 pictures per second (with a crop factor of 1.25). When using the electronic viewfinder, there is no blackout of the viewfinder image between the two exposures; therefore the view of the subject is not impaired during continuous shooting.

The X-S10 has a 7.6 cm rotating and swiveling touchscreen LCD that can also be used as a selfie monitor and for conveniently taking photos and videos from a wide variety of positions.

The electronic viewfinder offers three boost options: “Residual light priority” for an easy-to-read display even in dark surroundings, “Resolution priority” for displaying the finest details, and “Priority frame rate” for a clear viewfinder image when capturing dynamic subjects.

The Fuji X-S10 records videos in 4K / 30p quality either with 8 bit and 4: 2: 0 color scanning directly on an SD card or outputs them with 10 bit and 4: 2: 2 via an HDMI connection out. In high-speed mode, impressive slow-motion with 10-fold slowing is possible with Full HD and 240 frames per second.

Even movements that take place in a fraction of a second are clearly captured in the picture. In addition to the IBIS system, digital image stabilization is used, which allows calm and sharp images even when walking. In the IS-Boost mode, the stabilization effect is additionally reinforced, so that all camera movements are compensated for when taking pictures with the freehand.

Video recording can be started using the video button on the top of the X-S10. This can also be done while taking a picture. Exposure and focus are automatically adjusted by the camera.
