Fujifilm launches X-H2S Camera and XF150-600mm, XF18-120mm Lenses

With the X-H2S, Fujifilm has presented its latest flagship in the X system. The Fuji X-H2S is a robust, high-performance camera that is characterized by its speed and a professional range of functions for reportage professionals. As the first fully-fledged hybrid camera, Fuji X-H1 also intended to appeal to professional filmmakers.

The Fujifilm XH2 S comes with a new APS-C format image sensor that is still limited to 26 Mpx and a new image processor that enables fast photos and high-resolution videos. Appropriately, the camera now also uses CFexpress memory cards (type B), but still supports SD cards with the second memory card slot. It also offers appropriate interfaces for use in a wired network.

The Fuji X-H2S features an advanced AF system capable of shooting up to 40 frames per second and features newly developed subject recognition AF technology, and can even record 6.2K@30P and 4K@120P videos.

Other features include 5-axis image stabilization that offers an advantage of up to 7.0 f-stops, an extremely robust magnesium body, improved hardware compared to the previous model, and extensive interface options, including the new slot for a CFexpress Type B card and an optional File Transmitter (sold separately). The new camera meets the diverse photographic needs of professional photographers and videographers in both still and video categories such as sports photography.

The camera is equipped with a back-illuminated 26.16MP “X-TransTM CMOS 5 HS” sensor, the fifth generation of the X-Series image sensors. Its signal readout speed is about four times that of the current model, enabling continuous shooting at up to 40 frames per second without blackout. The camera controls the phase-detection pixels independently of the image display in burst mode. It triples the number of phase-detection information calculations compared to the current X-T4 model and enables high-speed focusing even in high-speed 40fps continuous shooting, greatly improving AF accuracy in continuous shooting mode.

The improved autofocus prediction algorithm has greatly improved the camera’s ability to track a moving subject and focus accurately in Zone AF or low-contrast situations. It means that a subject that is constantly moving can be tracked accurately, such as athletes and wild animals.

The new image processor features a subject recognition AF function developed using deep learning technology. It automatically detects and tracks not only the human face or eyes but also animals, birds, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, airplanes, and trains to maintain autofocus. Users can focus on shooting and framing as the camera can keep a specific subject in focus at all times.
