Fotodiox is eagerly anticipated to launch interesting accessories for cameras, and now unveiled a new Nikon to Sony FotodioX FUSION Smart AF Adapter that allows to mount Nikon lenses onto Sony cameras and maintain electronic communication between the two devices.
This new lens adapter maintains full electronic communication between Nikon AF-S and AF-I lenses and the camera body in order to afford in-camera aperture adjustment in auto, aperture priority, and program AE modes; relay Exif data between the camera and the lens; and to enable the use of both autofocus and Vibration Reduction technologies for full support of all the lens’ features.
As per the company, the Fotodiox adapter is compatible with all Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras, but it is best-suited for use on cameras that have phase-detection autofocus, such as the Sony a7, a7 II, a7r II, a6000, a6300, and a6500; it also supports NEX-series of cameras as well. When mounted on the older camera bodies, autofocus performance will be reduced a little bit because the device uses Contrast Detection AF system.
Commenting on the launch, Mr. Bohus Blahut, marketing director for Fotodiox Pro, said, “The Nikon to Sony FUSION Adapter is truly the first of its kind, and we couldn’t be more excited to share it with our customers,” also add, “What makes it such a breakthrough is the presence of FUSION Drive – a built-in motor that physically moves the lens’ internal aperture control lever. Nikon lenses are notorious for maintaining mechanical aperture control while many other functions are electronic, but FUSION Drive, which we built for the very first time for this Nikon to Sony FUSION Adapter, solves that issue.”
The FotodioX FUSION Smart AF Adapter price is $369.95 USD, can be purchased through BHPhoto online store. It measures 111.76 x 96.52 x 60.96 mm and weighs around 318 grams.
