The Fossil Gen 6 Wellness Edition is available now. The new Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch also comes with a PPG sensor for measuring oxygen saturation and is based on the latest version of Wear OS, designed by Google for wearables.
The Fossil Gen 6 Wellness Edition is available now – which isn’t a surprise given Fossil’s announcement. The Wellness Edition is also wearable, which should not least be designed for fashion-conscious users. The smartwatch is available in three color variants: Rose Gold/Blush, Silver/Navy, and Black. As usual, Fossil itself also offers different colored 20 mm straps.
The Wellness Edition of the smartwatch also comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100+, which can access a working memory with a capacity of one gigabyte. The internal memory is eight gigabytes.
The 1.3-inch AMOLED screen has a resolution of 416 x 416 pixels. Control is not only possible via the touchscreen, but also via voice input as well as using the two buttons and the rotating crown – this also functions as a button. The case should be waterproof up to a test pressure of 3 ATM.
The sensors are quite extensive, so a PPG heart rate sensor is installed. It is also possible to measure the oxygen saturation of the blood, as well as sensors for measuring acceleration, altitude, the level of ambient lighting, a compass, and a gyroscope. The infrared radiation radiating away from the body can be quantified by the watch.
In extended mode, the battery life is said to be several days, but the manufacturer also cautiously estimates the battery life at 24 hours. GPS, NFC, WiFi, and Bluetooth 5.0 LE are part of the equipment.
