Forspoken will take just one second to load on PlayStation 5

Luminous Productions CTO Teppei Ono has revealed that Forspoken PS5, the studio’s open-world fantasy action game, will load “in just a second” on PlayStation 5.

The developer stated that the SSD has become “an integral part of Forspoken’s boot time reduction” on the PlayStation 5. In the case of the PC version of Forspoken game, boot times can vary from 2 to 22 seconds depending on the type of drive used.

The Forspoken PC version also uses Microsoft’s DirectStorage download acceleration technology on Windows 10 and 11, which debuted on PC in March of this year, after a “break-in” on the Xbox Series X and S consoles.

Recall that in March, the CTO of Luminous Productions demonstrated the work of DirectStorage at the GDC 2022 event. At the same time, he said that some scenes in modern games can load in a second, provided that a Windows 11 PC equipped with an NVMe solid-state drive with a reading speed is used over 5000 MB/s.

Forspoken game is an action RPG that follows the journey of Frey, a young New Yorker transported to the beautiful and cruel land of Athia. In search of a way home, Frey must use her newfound magical abilities to traverse sprawling landscapes, battle monstrous creatures and defeat powerful matriarchs known as Tantas.

The Forspoken PS5 game is already available for pre-orders on Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk online websites for $69.99 / £59.99. Forspoken release date has been set for October 11, 2022, on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store, Epic Games Store) and PlayStation 5. Initially, the game was planned to be released on May 24.

Recently, Publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment and developer studio HYDE have also unveiled a new gameplay video from their survival role playing game Digimon Survive as part of the Korean festival Rulicon 2022.
