First Images of the Samsung DeX Pad With Galaxy S9

Samsung introduced the DeX Station with Galaxy S8 in 2017 and seems willing to propose an accessory that can expand the multimedia capabilities of its next flagship. It’s called Samsung DeX Pad, a dock accessory is aimed at turning the phone into a viable desktop computing solution.

The DeX Pad will hold your Galaxy S9 on a flat surface rather than making it stand. This isn’t just adding for comfort, but also brings the possibility of using the phone as a touchpad. With the phone’s screen held down on DeX Pad and used as the desktop’s cursor, you’d only have to connect a keyboard.

The Korean manufacturer registered the DeX Pad brand last month and now it is possible to take a look at the new dock, which will probably be available along with the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus.

The dock will have a USB-C for connecting the phone, at the top edge you can find two USB-A ports for connecting external devices, the HDMI connector for the external monitor, and a USB-C connector that will be used for charging and it appears like it also has a cooling vent system.

We could see the presence of the headphone jack on the lower edge of the Galaxy S9 positioned on the dock. Compared to the Dex Station there does not seem to be any major changes: the LAN connector is missing, but could simply be on one of the sides that are not visible in the two images shared by Evan Blass.

According to what previously confirmed by Evleaks, the new Samsung DeX Pad will be backward compatible and will make it possible to transform the smartphone into a touchpad or a virtual keyboard.
