Fender launches Duel Pugilist and Dual Marine Layer Effects Pedals

Double effect pedals, double the fun? We already know Fender’s newest guitar effects pedal models. The Duel Pugilist and Dual Marine Layer Reverb Guitar pedals are old friends, but they are now installed twice in one housing. Does that make sense?

Fender Dual Marine Layer Reverb

You are probably familiar with the Marine Layer Reverb. The opinions on the net are almost consistently positive, so it is hardly surprising that Fender is updating exactly the reverb guitar pedal again. And not just anyone, but it doubles the reverb effect in two separately controllable and switchable effects and adds a third footswitch in addition to on / off and A / B switches: Sustain. Fender describes it as “massive atmospheric creations”, We suspect it’s a kind of freeze function or feedback loop, maybe with a kind of shimmer on top?

It is controlled twice with identical potentiometers for damping, time, mod, and level. Sustain gets its own regulator. And the toggle switches were limited to a single one with 3 reverb types, presumably still Hall, Room, and Special. The toggle switches for variation and filter are missing.

You can pre-order this new Fender guitar effects pedal at Adorama.com for $229.99.

Fender Duel Pugilist Distortion Pedal

Even Duel Pugilist Distortion pedal only contains the double Pugilist Distortion* that we already know. In addition to a bypass, there are foot switches for distortion A and distortion B, which can be switched on individually but can also be used in series or parallel. There is also a new blend control that smoothly blends both distortion circles.

The three classic controllers are used to control each channel: Level, Tone, and Gain. There is also a 2-band EQ and the aforementioned blend control and the 3-way toggle switch for dual-mode.

Incidentally, we find it remarkable that Fender uses “Duel” instead of “Dual” in the name.

The new Fender Duel Pugilist Distortion Pedal has been priced at $229.99 and is also pre-order through the Adorama.com website.

Along with these guitar effects pedals, Fender has also introduced the new Tone Master Super Reverb guitar amplifier including a double footswitch, and has the standard channels normal and vibrato as well as the familiar operating concept of the original, and is priced at $1,199.99.
