Taiwanese tech giant Asus has released its newest device with Chrome OS, dubbed as Fanless Chromebox. It’s worth noting that the first Asus Chromebox mini PC was released back in 2014.
The new Fanless Chromebox features Intel Celeron 5205U Processor 1.9 GHz (2M Cache, up to 1.9 GHz) processor paired with up to 4GB DDR4 SO-DIMM memory, and up to 32G eMMC.
The Chrome box also features a versatile 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C USB-C port for fast data transfers, power, and DisplayPort functionality. Also, Chromebox supports simultaneous connection of up to three 4K displays. You also get support for Intel Wi-Fi 6 connectivity and USB 3.2 ports.
The new Asus Chromebox has a robust aluminum chassis with no active cooling. There is also an RS232 over the RJ50 interface, allowing users to connect the device to legacy monitors and devices.
The manufacturer suggests using the Asus Fanless Chromebox in shopping malls, smart vending machines, warehouses, and production lines. It is also a suitable desktop replacement system in some offices.
Price and availability
Fanless Asus Chromebox pricing starts from $399 for the base model with the specs mentioned above, and it is now available to pre-order on the Bhphotovideo.com online store.
