Essential introduces Portrait mode in its Camera app

Essential has released a new update for its official Camera app of the PH-1 smartphone. Among the various innovations, at its recent AMA session on reddit where users were also able to receive their answers regarding the company’s future, and we find a reduction in JPEG image compression with attached quality improvement, introduction of Portrait Mode and more.

The new version is already available on Play Store and is identifiable with the 0.1.088 release. Below is the official changelog:

• Portrait Mode enabled
• Added exposure compensation for all regular camera modes
• Reduced JPEG compression to improve image quality
• Stability fixes
