At NAMM 2020 Electro Voice presents the EVOLVE 30M portable sound system, it was developed to take the performance of a column sound system in this size and price range to a new level.
The outstanding, space-filling electrovoice sound and intelligent functions are guaranteed. The voice speaker system comes with a digital eight-channel mixer, integrated studio-quality effects and a Bluetooth app for controlling all audio, effects and mixing functions. Everything is combined in a compact housing that is easy to transport, assemble and disassemble and that appeals to solo artists, smaller music groups and venues.
Technical details
The EV EVOLVE 30M system consists of an array top section, two connecting rods, a backpack for the top section and rods, and an active subwoofer.
The broadband column array is equipped with six 2.8-inch neodymium drivers and has patented waveguides with a large beam angle of 120°. The vertical beam angle of 40° ensures that the sound is well received by both seated and standing audiences.
The top part of housing is made of robust material and has an ergonomic aluminum handle. The 10 inch subwoofer is housed in a 15 mm wooden chassis in a high-performance laminar flow vent design that improves both stability and acoustic performance. The top part and the subwoofer are connected via two equally long aluminum rods with internal wiring and magnetic locking.
A Class-D Amplification delivers up to 1000W output power, 500W to the subwoofer and 500W to the top. The EV speakers are protected by a powder-coated steel grille.
Mixer, DSP, and Effects
The EVOLVE 30M connector panel is equipped with EV’s QuickSmart DSP, which enables navigation of all system parameters via an LCD display with rotary encoder or via the app with several options for signal and input routing. The range of functions includes four presets (music, live, language, club), a 3-band EQ (low, mid, high), a graphic 7-band EQ (in mixer mode), five-user presets (store and recall Settings), phantom power, visual monitoring of the limiter status, input level control and displays as well as a master volume control to optimize the gain structure.
The integrated, fully configurable digital mixer was developed in collaboration with the engineering team of the sibling brand Dynacord. The DSP section is equipped with top-class effects – a premium quality known from the legendary PowerMate mixer series.
The input section consists of 4x XLR / TRS combo microphone/line inputs, 1x XLR / TRS combo stereo line input, 1x cinch, 1x 3.5 mm stereo and 1x high-impedance instrument input and is equipped with professional pre-amplifiers and mix Functions. Separate channel aux sends, hi-z and foot pedal inputs are also included, and a range of effects (30 presets, including chorus, delay, flange, and reverb, over two FX channels) provide musicians with countless ways to optimize their sound.
In this way, the user can minimize the need for external devices such as mixer and effects devices; this also helps to reduce set-up times and the confusion on stage. The integrated digital mixer and the onboard effects can be controlled via the app or the rotary encoder via the LCD display.
App control
The QuickSmart Mobile App from Electro Voice enables the convenient operation of all audio, effect and mix functions. The app has an intuitive, easy-to-understand user interface and uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BTLE) technology to configure and monitor all parameters of up to six EVOLVE 30M portable sound system in parallel. High-resolution streaming quality with low latency ensures the best sound when playing music.
