DJI unveils O3 Air Unit POV Camera for FPV Drones

DJI has officially unveiled the O3 Air Unit, a new POV camera, and a high-speed video streaming system for FPV drones, usually high-speed models designed specifically for shooting or broadcasting POV video.

The O3 Air Unit uses a 1/1.7-inch sensor that captures 4K video at 60 frames per second. It noted that the maximum viewing angle of 155 ° is available when shooting video with an aspect ratio of 4:3 and in lower quality: 2.7K at 50/60 fps or 1080p at 50/60 fps. Image stabilization uses proprietary DJI RockSteady technology, and D-Cinelike color correction mode allows you to fine-tune color reproduction in detail.

The transmitter design uses 2T2R omnidirectional antennas to transmit 1080p video at 100 fps in H.265 format up to 10 km at a maximum speed of 50 Mbps. According to the manufacturer, the best available frequencies for signal transmission are selected automatically, and the anti-interference technology allows data to be transmitted with a delay of no more than 30 ms. Canvas mode is supported, in which the user can adjust the OSD information, including alerts, timers, and signal quality.

The POV camera is compatible with the DJI Goggles 2 wireless headset (approx. $759 on Amazon), which is sold as a separate product. The headset features a 1080p micro-OLED display with a 100Hz refresh rate, and built-in diopters allow adjustment so that the drone operator can interact with the device without wearing glasses. The device can be synced with the DJI Fly app, so the drone’s real-time flight can be broadcast to viewers.

DJI O3 Air Unit price and release date

The DJI O3 Air Unit POV camera for FPV drones is now available to pre-order on for $229, and it will ship on November 25, 2022.

DJI recently introduced the Avata, essentially a more affordable version of the FPV model (approx. $629 on Amazon), with which the company first offered a special VR headset with a first-person view from the onboard camera. DJI Avata FPV is characterized by compact dimensions, high flight speed, and low weight, despite the seemingly bulky design.
